If you follow my blog, you know I'm all about "saving money" -
since you can only spend a dollar once, I like getting the most for it.
Well, yesterday was one of those days...a beautiful, sunny day in
Historic Downtown Franklin. Welcome to our Main Street Festival...a free venue
with plenty to do. We have such a well-laid-out downtown footprint for
these events - 4 blocks by 4 blocks, with a rotary in the center square (a short 1/2 mile walk from our downtown Franklin home!).
Turning the corner onto Main Street, we were met by a violin quartet
playing "Ashokan Farewell" (you'll recall the haunting title music from Ken Burns'
PBS famous mini-series documentary "The Civil War" - ). As you can see, lots of
neighbors, friends and out-of-towners took advantage of the wonderful
weather to hear great music, experience a wide variety of street
vendors, rides for the children, and for all to just take in the sights and
sounds of our beautiful downtown area...
